In this advanced technological world that we live in, you have to keep up with the times. In todays world there are different and more modern ways to network professionally. One way is using a website called LinkedIn.
LinkedIn is a professional networking site for any individual that wants to network. It is basically an online resume. It was launched on May 5, 2003 and is world's largest professional network. An individual can establish and maintain professional contacts and it is also a way to either find work or get ahead in career as well as gain resources and opportunities for networking.
Anybody can use LinkedIn and after you create an account you connect with people and get yourself out there on the market. Connecting with other people and big businesses will allow them to see your profile and learn about you. Big businesses have started asking for your LinkedIn account to check your profile for hiring. It is so popular because it is a unlimited door to different opportunities and connections. Also it is a faster way to get some exposure in the professional field.
Some of the features LinkedIn has that I like is how you can connect with people and businesses that can further you along in your area of work. Gaining exposure is a key to making it in any field because it's not always what you know sometimes its who you know. On my LinkedIn account I want to convey a person that has experience in reporting as well as a passion and love for sports that will hopefully turn into a reporting job covering sports.
The accounts of people I know that I have seen have been set up very professionally. Starting with a professional picture then detailing things about them and about experience they have earned in their field. These profiles will be enhancers in their hiring process.
