Campus Conversation

For this assignment for my Advanced Production class, we were instructed to interview someone about a particular topic of our choice. For my assignment I interviewed Vice President of the Bowling Club Jasmine Davis about the K.W. Green Student Center at South Carolina State University.

I choose this topic because the Student Center is a place for students to chill out and unwind, but it needs a few improvements. Also we had to make the interview look as if their we're two cameras.  Here is my segment of Campus Conversation with Jasmine Davis.

I would like to thank Jasmine for taking time to do this interview.

Football Season

As the semester begin, our first assignment for my Advanced Production class was to go out into the field and interview people on the street about a random topic of our choice. With the football season among us, what better topic to discuss.

Inquiring about college and professional football, here is my segment of "Word On The Street".

Bulldog Lanes

For our final project of the semester in my Advanced Television Production class we had to do a commercial on something on campus. For my commercial I choose to do the bowling alley in the K.W. Green Student Life Center here at South Carolina State University. Here is my commercial on the Bulldog Lanes.

Buzzer Beater

In my Advanced TV Production class, we grouped up and were assigned to record a segment on a topic of our choice on a real live set. Setting up the cameras, getting perfect light on set and turning on the equipment on set and in the control room were also tasks we had to complete for this project.

For my group, we decided to do a segment on sports. With Devante Williams and myself as the hosts, Mufasa Shaw on the camera and Jasmine Robbins in the control room, this recording was a success. Here is our segment entitled "Buzzer Beater".

Green Screen Quick Takes

In Advanced TV Production class we used iMovie to put together a video with voice over on it. The voice over we used was a picture in a picture. We had to record three videos and record us talking about those videos.

For my three videos I choose highlights of my favorite professional teams. My first video is LeBron James stealing a pass, second is Kirk Cousins throwing a game winning pass and the third is David Ortiz hitting his 500th career home run.

Here is my video hope you enjoy:

Lighting Is Key

Lighting is key in shooting on a set. There are different types and forms of light that can make or break a picture or video. With whatever light you decide to use you want to make your subject look good.

In my Advanced TV Production class, we were assigned to do a lighting project that displayed different types of light. By taking photos of other classmates we were able to show off various lighting. Using Jasmine Robbins as my subject I portrayed Split lighting, Rembrant lighting, and using a flash light a fearful subject.

Here are my shots:

First shot: 90 degree or Split Lighting-the main or key light is placed at eye level and 90 degrees to the side of Jasmine.

Second Shot: Using just a flash with no other lights on, it shows a fearful jasmine as if someone or thing is after her.

Second Shot: Rembrandt or 45 degree lighting-The key light is set high at a downward angle at a 45 degree angle from Jasmine. A fill light is set back and to the left. A back light is at about a 45 degree angle behind Jasmine on her right side.

Using A Portable Reflector

In my Basic TV Production Class we are on chapter 5 discussing light. Having the correct light on a set can make or break a recording.

When shooting in the field you have to deal with the bright sun. The bright sunlight produces distinct highlights and black shadow areas with little or no detail.

For this assignment we had to take a shot using a portable reflector to balance the light on a shot. A portable reflector is used to kick fill light into the shadow side of a subject face.

Here are the shots:

1st shot: No reflector

2nd shot: With the reflector

3rd shot: Full shot of me and the reflector held by Musfasa Shaw.
